England Boxing launches the Youth Title Belts

England Boxing has today launched the new Youth Title Belts – and is excited to announce the initial box-offs for the belts at National and Area level.

Following a similar structure to the National Title Belts (for senior boxers), there will be three levels of belts in place, meaning that boxers can compete at a level appropriate for them, be it at National, Area or Regional level.

As with the senior belts, England Boxing will manage the National and Area belts, with each Region managing its own Regional Belt system. For clarity, the rules and regulations, including details on the full structure and processes, can be found attached.

The introduction of the Youth Title Belts is England Boxing’s latest initiative to action a key objective in its strategy for 2017 to 2021, Inspiring And Transforming Lives Through Boxing, of creating more opportunities for boxers to box.

“These belts are an important offering to England Boxing’s membership, adding to the successful launch of the elite belts and meaning more boxers can compete for a belt at National, Area or Regional level,” said David Thorley, England Boxing’s Head of Talent and Competitions.

“It is obviously vital that we cater for Youth boxers, allowing them to compete in more meaningful bouts and giving them the platform to develop into senior boxers that will remain competing for years to come.”

As with the senior version, the National and Area belts all start as vacant, so the first step was to decide on the box-off bouts for the National and Area belts to get the first belt holders in place.

To do this, the Title Belts Panel looked at all available and registered boxers and considered a boxer’s placing in National Championships as a primary issue.

The National Belt will primarily be the National Youth Championship runner-up (such as Cameron Paul, pictured above, in red) against the boxer who finished third (lost against the eventual winner in the semi-finals).

The bouts are listed below, but note that boxers on any GB Boxing programme, or who are the current national champion in that weight category, are not eligible to compete for the Title Belts at any level.

Clubs/Boxers may begin to arrange the bouts in the attached document, but details must be sent onto titlebelts@www.englandboxing.org for sanctioning.

Please note that the sanctioning fee will not be in place for 2019 to encourage more bouts and enable the competition to become established.
