The qualification is the minimum award that permits the supervision of sparring within boxing gymnasiums, and  it is also the first step towards the England Boxing Level 3 Coaching Award and the Talent Pathway within England Boxing.

Coaches cannot attend the Level 2 Coaching Course until all of the below criteria is met:

  • The coach is registered as a member of an England Boxing-affiliated club and has held a Level 1 Coaching membership card for a minimum of 12 months.
  • The coach has an in-date Safeguarding and First Aid certificate that is recorded on the England Boxing Vault
  • The coach has a valid DBS certificate that is recorded on the England Boxing National Database and is on the England Boxing Vault.

Level 2 Progression Workshops (Online)

England Boxing is now offering Level 2 Progression Workshops, which have been set up during the Coronavirus Pandemic for fully registered England Boxing Level 2 coaches who are keen to take the next step.

The online workshops are a good way of evidencing the kind of continuous professional development (CPD) that is needed to be selected to take part in the England Boxing Level 3 coaching course, as well as helping to add to a Level 2 coach’s existing skillset.

Workshops on three key areas are currently available:

  • Club Coach Leader
  • Competition Lead Coach
  • Integration and Applied Sport Science.

For more details on the courses, click here. To register for a workshop you must be a current Level 2 boxing coach. Dates are outlined at the bottom of this page. The cost to attend each workshop is £20 (20 participants max per workshop).

You can register and secure your place by clicking here, or by clicking on the ‘book a course here’ link at the bottom of the page.

There is no pass/fail criteria for these workshops, although you must be engaged and willing to contribute to demonstrate your understanding.

What happens if a coach fails a England Boxing Level 2 Course… does this count towards the Level 1 Refresher?

If a coach does not pass the England Boxing Level 2 course, they will be able to use this as credit to act as an alternative to the England Boxing Level 1 Refresher course. However, there are conditions to this:

During the Level 2 Course, the coach needs to demonstrate (which relates to the current Level 1 Refresher):

  • Understand the role of the coach
  • Conduct safe activities
  • Evaluate activities and own coaching practice

If the Coach Educator identifies or observes aspects relating to safety, professional attitude or safeguarding that they are not satisfied with, the coach candidate will have to attend the England Boxing Level 1 Refresher. Should you need to take the England Boxing Level 1 Refresher, you will be notified.
