New Rule Book issued for 2022-23 season

An updated England Boxing Rule Book has now been issued to reflect changes as we move into the 2022-23 season.

Among the sections that include changes are those for Youths Boxing Seniors, ring walk music, box cups, ring dimensions, beards and epilepsy.

Also featured are the new Club and Championships Matrices for 2023.

Updates

Below are detailed the updates that have been made.

Section 1
  • 1.1.3. Previous Individual Contact Sport England Boxing Authority letter to be stapled into BCR1.
Section 2
  • 2.6.5 Youths Boxing Seniors – Conditions for a Youth Boxer to compete against a Senior Boxer.
  • 2.7.3 Senior Boxing Youths – Conditions for Senior Boxer to compete against a Youth Boxer.
Section 5
  • 5.9. Ring walk music may not contain expletives or offensive language.
Section 6
  • 6.4.2 Box Cups – National Federations are to provide a letter for boxers to compete in Box Cups confirming Annual Registration and Annual Medical status.
  • 6.12.2. Ring Dimensions note the 45cm of platform outside of the ropes is required but the 3m of head room above the platform is recommended.
Section 9
  • Removed – 9.7.5 A person with epilepsy will be permitted to box provided he or she has a letter from their Neurologist. confirming the permission to box.
  • Inserted – 9.6.3. An individual with epilepsy.
Section 10
  • Removed – 10.1.8 For domestic boxing, Boxers are not required to be clean shaven. Any Boxer sporting a long  beard should ensure that they discuss its management with the Supervisor at the weigh in.
  • Inserted – 10.1.8   A boxer can have a beard and moustache, but either must not cover the neck and must not be longer than 10cm.
  • 10.2.5 and 10.3.4. Removal of Velo and Garmy Gloves and Head guards as sanctioned competition kit.
Section 11
  • 11.1.2. Ring walk Music may not contain expletives or offensive language.
  • Inserted – 14.3.8 If a Boxer, a Official or a Team Official or coach is guilty of a  serious offence that  is  contrary  to  the  spirit  of  sportsmanship  or  is  likely  to  constitute  an  Ethic  or Disciplinary  Offence,  any  person  –  on  its  own  motion  or  based  on  a complaint by anyone – has the right to refer the matter to England Boxing for further investigation and possible sanctions.
Section 16
  • 16.1.2. Protest has been removed – what should happen if a technical rule is breached meaning the wrong decision is reached in a contest.
Annex A
  • Para 6.a The Senior Weigh In official must have a DBS.
Club Boxing Matrix
  • Removal of the Development bout limits within the Club Boxing Matrix for 2022 and i.e. 0-20 for male seniors.
Matrices
  • Addition of a 2023 Club Boxing Matrix.
  • Addition of a 2023 Championship Matrix.
