After a number of recent queries, England Boxing would like to clarify the requirement of the DBS check apply to the following:

· Coaches,

· Welfare Officers,

· Team Managers,

· Coach and Official Educators and Assessors,

· Designated drivers that are designated by the club/England Boxing to transport athletes.

The following are NOT REQUIRED to obtain a DBS:

· Boxing Tutors

· Boxing Leaders

· Referees

· OIC’s

· Committee members,

· Cleaners,

· Canteen staff,

· Masters of Ceremonies,

· Timekeepers,

· Recorders,

· Judges,

· Photographers,

· Club Support Officers.

This list is based on legislative requirement of assessing contact with children and the frequency of such.

Welfare officers need to be aware of situations within their clubs where circumstances do not fit the norm, and be able to identify those requiring DBS certificates outside of this list. If you are unsure, please contact Gordon Valentine, England Boxing National Compliance Manager at Gordon.valentine@www.englandboxing.org
