Coaches and other non-boxers will now get the chance to lead by example in the England Boxing Strava Running Challenge, with a new category set up for them to join.

Due to popular demand, the new ‘Coaches and Non-Boxers’ section is to be added to the Challenge from this Monday (11th January).

It will also enable the likes of officials, administrators, welfare officers and other volunteers to enter.

If you are a coach or non-boxer who has previously entered the senior section and specifically wish to join the new section, please reapply for this section, stating your club and position on your Strava profile.

For example, put ‘Steel City Coach’, ‘Aberfeldy Welfare Officer’ or ‘Wearmouth Administrator’. If you are an official with no specific club, please state your region and role, such as ‘Eastern Counties Judge’.

To join in, first sign up to Strava at https://www.strava.com/, if you haven’t already. You can then request to enter the new section via this link: https://www.strava.com/clubs/englandboxingcoaches

Please note that your request to join will remain pending and only be accepted once the Challenge starts at the beginning of next week.

Almost 400 entries have come in so far across the four existing categories of Schools, Junior, Youth and Senior as boxers bid to stay in shape in the New Year despite the government’s national Coronavirus lockdown.

It’s still too not late to enter, either, with the weekly challenge going on throughout January.

Please note that boxers taking part are doing so their own risk and must ensure they have adequate footwear and clothing and no injury or health concerns.

Important: It is recommended that participants do not to run alone in the dark and parents and coaches are requested to monitor the activity of under 18s and ensure that those taking part do not push themselves beyond their running capabilities, while also giving themselves adequate rest.

Please note that your request to join will remain pending and only be accepted once the Challenge starts.

Please indicate on your Strava profile which club you are a member of and also ensure under ‘Privacy Controls’ you choose ‘Everyone’ otherwise your results might not show up in the leaderboard, which lists the top 100.

To join in, first sign up to Strava at https://www.strava.com/, if you haven’t already.

Then head over to the relevant group for your age to complete your registration. Runs will automatically be logged in the challenge once you are registered:
