As clubs continue to travel across the UK to participate in boxing events, England Boxing would like to remind members of the correct procedures and requirements when visiting Scotland and Wales.

This reminder outlines the current protocols for English clubs and boxers attending events in these regions.

Scottish Boxers and Boxing Clubs

For English clubs visiting Boxing Scotland events:

  • A Box Abroad permit IS required for all Box Cups. Travel insurance is not required.
  •  ABox Abroad permit IS NOT required for club shows or sparring events.

Please note: England Boxing Boxers and Clubs are not permitted to enter Scottish Alliance club events or spar/box against Scottish Alliance boxers.

Boxing Scotland requires any Scottish club attending an England Boxing club show or an England Boxing club to either compete, spar or train, to have a letter of permission to attend.

The permission must be sought by the Scottish club attending England. The letter should be requested by the club either before or on arrival, showing that there is proper approval for the trip/activities.

An example of the letter that should be provided can be downloaded here.

It is important that any Scottish club boxing in England has prior permission, as accepting attendance without the relevant permission could potentially put the travelling attendees at risk due to not being insured.

Welsh Boxers and Boxing Clubs

For English clubs visiting Welsh Boxing events:

  • A Box Abroad permit IS required for all Box Cups. Travel insurance is not required.
  • A Box Abroad permit IS NOT required for club shows or sparring events.
