England Boxing is saddened to learn of the passing of Stephen Graham, an integral figure of Shildon Amateur Boxing Club and the Tyne, Tees & Wear boxing community.

Graham was a coach and matchmaker and dedicated himself to both roles for the Tyne, Tees and Wear Association.

Over the years he took regional squads to duels in the Eastern Counties, often to Felixstowe, as well as Peterhead in Scotland, providing the young boxers with unforgettable life experiences and memories.

Phil Hattan, the Regional Secretary for Tyne, Tees and Wear, said: “Steve, a past member of the executive member, will be missed so much, not only by myself but by all who knew him.”

Posting on their Facebook page, Shildon ABC wrote: “As many of you know, Steve Graham sadly passed away. This has left every member and the extended family of Shildon Boxing Club completely devastated.

“The countless number of young people and coaches, that have passed through those doors, that have had their lives influenced by him is phenomenal. A genuine boxing stalwart of the region and beyond, he will be sadly missed by us all.

“As a club, we wish to extend our sincere condolences to all of his family and friends.

“Rest easy Steve, from all at S.A.B.C.”

A “no fuss” service, as requested by Steve, will be held at 10.30am on Friday 24th November 2023 at Crook Cemetary (Low Jobs Hill).
