England Boxing launch Ethnically Diverse Coach and Officials Programme
June 11, 2025 | by Chris Boyd
England Boxing are excited to announce the launch of our Ethnically Diverse Coach and Officials Programme, with applications now open for registered coaches and officials to sign up.
England Boxing is proud to be the home of a diverse group of boxers; however, there is a discrepancy between the diversity of our boxers and the diversity of our coaches and officials.
Similar to the way the Women’s Officials and Coaches Development Programmes provided a valuable opportunity for our female members to gain confidence and grow their skills, England Boxing is now looking to do the same for those from ethnically diverse communities. Ethnically diverse boxers represent 25% of our membership, but this shifts dramatically to just 11% and 9% for coaches and officials, respectively.
This programme will involve online meetings, as well as the opportunity to test skills at England Performance camps with Performance coaches and boxers. There will also be the opportunity to shadow officials at our National Development Championships later this year.
If you wish to apply, please send a one-minute video to hrapplications@englandboxing.org with the subject line ‘Officials Development Programme/Coaches Development Programme’, depending on which is relevant to your application. Please include your experience in the role to date, as well as what you are hoping to achieve and gain from the programme.
At this stage, England Boxing is only accepting applications from those who are registered on The Locker with a valid membership and license. We are also only accepting those who have their demographic details up to date to ensure we are prioritising underrepresented communities. The closing date is Friday 11th July 2025 at 5pm.
Unfortunately, England Boxing are unable to contribute towards travel costs at this time, so any costs associated with the programmes will have to be covered by members themselves. Individuals will, however, receive several hours of free CPD over 12 months to help develop their coaching or officiating.
