England Boxing Delivers Fourth ‘Coaching People with Parkinson’s’ Course in Southern Counties
August 9, 2025 | by Chris Boyd
England Boxing has successfully delivered the fourth instalment of its ‘Coaching People with Parkinson’s’ course, held on Saturday, 2nd August at Tenterden Boxing Club in the Southern Counties region, in partnership with Parkinson’s UK.
The course is part of a nationwide initiative, with nine sessions planned across England, aimed at empowering boxing coaches with the tools and confidence to run safe, inclusive and effective sessions for individuals living with Parkinson’s.
A total of 11 dedicated coaches from across the region took part in the day’s training — all of whom successfully completed the course and joined the growing national network of coaches trained to support those with neurological conditions. Previous sessions have already taken place in the Western Counties, Yorkshire and London.
The programme forms a key part of England Boxing’s broader commitment to inclusion and accessibility in the sport. The course covers practical guidance on:
- Adapting coaching techniques to individual needs
- Enhancing mobility and coordination through tailored circuits and resistance training
- Understanding the emotional and physical challenges of living with Parkinson’s.
With five more regional courses still to come, the initiative continues to build momentum — delivering knowledge to coaches and providing a real impact in clubs and communities across the country.
