Emphatic England win in duel with Scots

England recorded a comprehensive 7-1 success in their duel with neighbours Scotland at The Venue, Bowers Mill, Halifax yesterday (Sunday 4th August).

The development match-up was a great platform for eight boxers to pull on the Three Lions vest, gain additional international experience and perform for their country.

It was boxed across the Junior, Youth and Elite categories.

The bout-by-bout results are detailed below (England boxer first):

52kg Junior – Codie Smith v Josh Alexander = won split 4:1

48kg Youth – Morgan Ansell v Amit Kaur = won split 3:2

49kg Youth – Mykyle Ahmed v Grant Armstong = won first round RSC

52kg Youth – Patrick Hewitt v Owen Paton = won second round RSC

66kg Youth – Ted Jackson v Jay Delaney = won split 4:1

75kg Youth – Danny Steele v Robert McNulty = lost split 2:3

48kg Elite – Miriam Zouhou v Billie Denholm = won unanimous

60kg Elite – Subhaan Ahmed v Fraser Wilkinson = won split 4:1.

England Boxing Development Coach Amanda Coulson said: “Every one of them gave 100% and hopefully will have taken away some highlighted areas to continue to develop in order to reach their full potential.”

Other England coaches in attendance were Dan Bailey, Adrian Fleming, Russ Turnbull, Nigel Wright and Lorna Moser.
