England Boxing-affiliated clubs are urged to check if they are eligible for financial help following the latest national lockdown by the government because of the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Clubs up and down the country have already received more than £7.5 million in grants support since the first national lockdown began in March, including over £1.15 million from Sport England – at least £1 million through its Community Emergency Fund and another £150,000 from its Tackling Inequalities Fund, the latter helping 68 clubs who were in particular need of assistance.

It was part of the £220m COVID-19 response package set up by the public body to help grass roots clubs navigate their way through an extremely challenging time.

But more support is now on the way following the announcement of the second lockdown – with boxing clubs encouraged to see what is available to them.

Those clubs who received a rates grant in the first national Coronavirus lockdown can now apply to access another one to meet costs during the second round of enforced closures

To apply, a club must meet the criteria set out here, but could secure between £1,334 and £3,000 for every four weeks they are required to close, depending on the rateable value of the property they occupy.

Clubs can also apply for a grant from Sport England’s £16.5 million Return to Play Fund, which gives additional help to the sport and physical activity sector during the Coronavirus (Covid-19) Pandemic.

It will support groups, clubs and organisations who’ve been directly impacted by restrictions brought in to tackle the disease.

Clubs who are based in areas with a high ‘Indices of Multiple Deprivation’ (with an IMD of 1-3) –  meaning they operate in some of the poorest communities in the country – are particularly encouraged to apply. Click here to check the IMD ranking for your club.
