England enjoyed another excellent day at the EUBC European Youth Championships 2022 as their boxers win four of the five bouts contested in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Owen Ketley (Lionheart) was first to go at Male Under 54kg and he returned a unanimous 5-0 victory against Denis Bril of Germany after a composed display.

Emily Whitworth (The People’s Gym) was next to go at the same Under 54kg weight but in the female section and was another unanimous victor, winning all three rounds with all the judges in her success against Cyndelle Bachelet of France.

There was disappointment for Madeline Gittins (St Paul’s Boxing Academy) at Female Under 48kg who suffered a unanimous points defeat to Ukranian Sofila Turbinina.

But the Three Lions were quickly back to winning ways as Frankie Wood (West Ham) edged a 3-2 split decision win against Armenia’s Manvel Petrosyan.

And the day was capped off in style as Damar Thomas used his long levers to good effect in keeping Ukraine’s Simonas Zelenekas at bay in the Male Under 92kg category, winning unanimously.
