The Royal Navy Boxing Team was out again after three solid victories down at CTCRM; this time the team were in Bristol against The Western Counties.

There were eight highly contested bouts in total and the event proved to be one of the most entertaining clashes in Sporting Clubs 52 years of hosting the event.

With the Western Counties narrowly clinching the team result 5-3 on the night with two split decisions.

Results of the Navy Boxers:

Ryan Gumbley – lost

Kieran Chapman – won

Bradley Chapman – won

Rhyden Teale – lost split decision

Harry Davidson – lost split decision

Dale Martin – lost

Joel Kirby – lost

Dom Stephenson – won

Overall this was a fantastic team outing against a deliberately tough opposition.  Iron Sharpens Iron and the lads do not win championships on these type of shows, but rather learn how to win championships on these types of shows.

There were some exemplary performances tonight and we go back to the drawing board, improving with every session and every bout. We don’t lose, we either win or we learn.

The team is now back in the gym preparing for their next major team fixture against the Southern Counties Select at Guildhall, Portsmouth on Friday 9th November.
