Radcliffe Elite move to new premises

North West region club Radcliffe Elite is looking forward to a bright future after securing its own venue for the first time in 20 years.

The club were keen to move to their own space because of rising rent costs and safety concerns at their previous gym.

Boxers are now flocking to a new home at Victoria Works thanks to the fundraising efforts of sponsors, donors and parents.

Coach Ady Lewis – who won British and Commonwealth titles at flyweight and Bantamweight is delighted with the new venue and that the club’s destiny is now in its own hands.

“It’s brilliant and it is our gym now so we aren’t having to answer to anyone, it’s the first time in over 20 years that we have had our own place,” he told the Bury Times.

“I just want to say a big thank you to everyone (who has helped us) and the main point is that things are finally on their way up!

“A lot of people have helped us and the electricians and people doing work in the gym charged us next to nothing. We’ve done a lot off our own back, too, but it’s brilliant to see it now.”

The club would like to thank Marcus Jeffries, Stuart Davenport of MKM, Chris Hindle of CH Motor Bodies and Dave Calvert of Colour Rendering, Mick Haslam, Home Design and Build and Dale Healey for their help in making the project happen.

There are currently four England Boxing-qualified Level 1 and 2 coaches at the club.

Classes at the new club take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
