The showpiece England Boxing National Amateur Championships (NACs) Finals Day will return to Manchester Central on Saturday 23rd April – and entries are now open for the eagerly-anticipated 2022 tournament.

The north-west venue last hosted the premier boxing event on amateur boxing’s calendar in 2019, when the likes of Mark Dickenson, Delicious Orie, Charley Davison and Tori-Ellis Willetts all triumphed.

And after being staged in London last year, with no competitive boxing taking place in 2020 due to Covid-19, it’s a welcome return to the stunning Grade II-listed former railway station for this year’s title belt bouts.

The quarter-finals and semi-finals of the NACs will be held at last year’s finals venue, The University of East London SportsDock, on Saturday 9th April and Sunday 10th April.

The pre quarter-final venue, meanwhile, has been confirmed as the Magna Science Adventure Centre, Rotherham on Saturday 2nd April.

“Our first-ever visit to Manchester Central for the NACs Finals Day in 2019 proved to be a big hit and we can’t wait to return again for the climax of this year’s tournament,” said Interim Competitions and Events Manager, Mick Maguire.

“Not only was it a terrific setting befitting a major Championships and the pinnacle of our sport at amateur level, but, with the spectators who came along to support, it also created a brilliant atmosphere for the boxers who were competing.

“Similarly, we know from last year’s Finals Day in December what a great venue the SportsDock is for boxing and so we’re delighted that we are able to return there, this time for two days of boxing across the quarters and semis.

“Magna is a venue that we have used before for other levels of National Championships and, as well as being centrally located, it has an ideal set-up for a multi-ring event such as this.”

The England Boxing National Amateur Championships 2022 is open to boxers born between 01/01/1982 and 31/12/2003. All bouts will be boxed over three x three-minute rounds.

When completing an entry form, please take care when filling in details, ensuring that names are correct, as they will be used to populate matrices, draw sheets and bout lists, as well as certificates, should a boxer reach the latter stages of the tournament, and cannot be rectified later.

In entering and participating, a boxer is also confirming that the boxer (parent or legal guardian, as appropriate) consents to adhering to any Covid-19 procedures put in place by England Boxing and acknowledges and accepts any potential risk of being infected with Covid-19 by taking part and with no liability to England Boxing save in the event of negligence by England Boxing.

In entering, the boxers and the club concerned also consents that its coaches and representatives agree to adhering to any Covid-19 procedures put in place by England Boxing and acknowledges and accepts any potential risk of being infected with Covid-19 by taking part, and with no liability to England Boxing save in the event of any negligence by England Boxing.

For the avoidance of doubt, failure to do so could result in immediate removal from the competition and subsequent disciplinary action.
