The EUBC has issued a statement ruling out any international championships under its banner being contested until August 2020 at the earliest because of the Coronavirus outbreak.

It means the European Youth Championships scheduled for Montenegro between 23rd April and 3rd May, the European Schools Championships due to be held in Belfast from 29th June to 10th July and the European Junior Championships, which were set to be staged in Georgia from 13th to 25th July have all been postponed.

Team England had been set to enter boxers at all three age groups.

The statement read: “Following the spread of Covid-19, the security measures taken by European countries and member countries’ views on the EUBC 2020 Calendar, the EUBC Executive Committee has taken the decision to stop all EUBC Championships scheduled until August 2020.

“We firmly believe that this decision is necessary to protect the health of our athletes and coaches.

“The EUBC will monitor the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic and, if possible, will evaluate the possibility of rescheduling the Championships for this year.”
