Two professional boxers are giving back to the sport by coaching with their local amateur clubs in the Western Counties region.

Former British masters Lightweight champion Chris Higgs, of Lydney, Gloucestershire, and former Commonwealth Super Bantamweight champion Ash Lane, of Bristol, who is still competing as a pro, are giving their time and experience to help young people.

Higgs assists his father Bryan where he grew up at Lydney Boxing Club, whilst Lane has been a welcome addition to the team at Downend.

“I love working with the young people,” said Lane. “I can give them the benefit of my experience and I find it rewarding to see them progress.”

Both are now England Boxin- qualified coaches and undertook safeguarding and first aid training at Downend recently.
