Details confirmed for inaugural Midlands Box Cup

More details have been announced about the inaugural Midlands Box Cup, which is to be held over the weekend of Saturday 24th June and Sunday 25th June.

IBA 3 Star R&J, Paul Rosendale, has been appointed as Independent Tournament Supervisor while Mohammad Abdullah will take on the role of Tournament Secretary.

Applications to enter the tournament – which will be staged at Secret Space, Birmingham (B5 5SA) – have been from clubs all over England, Wales and beyond have registered boxers.

There are multiple car parks near the city centre venue and those attending should note that they may incur charges in line with Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone.

Tournament format

Day one, semi-finals, Saturday 24th June, weigh-in, 9am to 11am, boxing starts at 12.30pm.

Day two, finals, Sunday 25th June, weigh-in, 9am to 11am, boxing starts at 12.30pm.

There will be three boxing rings in operation on both days. Some boxers will have a bye to the finals, but all boxers must still weigh in on day one.

Presentations

Champions will get a special award, with the presentation ceremony taking place after boxing is concluded on Day 2.

Dispensation

Individual boxers registered to England Boxing will have dispensation for this event, meaning that current 2022-2023 registrations will still be valid. Boxer medicals must still be valid and clubs are reminded to check, and get a new medical if required.

Furthermore, all clubs who will have boxers competing must register for the new 2023-24 season, which they can do so from 1st June 2023. Dispensation will not be given to clubs.

Coach and spectator registration

Coach registrations are now open – all coaches must register to access the Field of Play/weigh-in and changing areas.

Spectator registration will open in May 2023 – all spectators must register online – with more info to follow soon. Please note that there will be very limited tickets for spectators.
