Dates for the England Boxing National Youth Championships 2021 and England Boxing National Junior Championships 2021 have been swapped, England Boxing can confirm.

The decision has been taken after a national consultation of the regions found that all were in favour of the changes.

The Juniors will now take place first, with the semi-finals on Saturday 16th October and the finals on Sunday 17th October.

The Youths will then be held on Friday 26th November (quarter-finals), Saturday 27th November (semi-finals) and Sunday 28th November (finals).

Explaining the reason for the changes, Competitions and Events Manager Lynsey Lockey said: “At Youth level, as things stand with the government’s Covid-19 guidelines, boxers who are aged 17 are legally allowed to spar, while those who are 18 are not.

“By moving the Youths back a month-and-a-half, it gives those who have not been sparring extra time to prepare, so they are at less of a disadvantage than they otherwise would have been.”

England Boxing continues to monitor and adapt to government regulations and guidelines around Covid-19 and will inform the membership of any further updates.
