This weekend’s England Boxing National Junior Championships and National Junior Development Championships 2021 (16th and 17th October) have been postponed, England Boxing can regrettably confirm.

Following police advice, the host venue opted to pull out of hosting the competition. As a result of this happening so close to the start of the event, it has not been possible to find an alternative venue at short notice, leading to the postponement.

England Boxing hopes it will be possible to rescheduled the event for another venue, with the weekend of Saturday 30th October and Sunday 31st October a possible date.

“We can only apologise for the disappointment, frustration and inconvenience this must cause for boxers and coaches, as well as their family and friends – and they are feelings we share,” said England Boxing Chief Executive Officer, Gethin Jenkins.

“The safety of everyone attending must come first, though, and all involved have a duty of care to act upon any information that is received.

“We will hold discussions about other venues and are determined to find a solution so that the boxers who have reached this stage get their chance to box on the national stage.”

The Junior Champions Days (30th and 31st October) have also been postponed. England Boxing will release more details on any rescheduled event and Champions Days when available.
