It’s been a busy Platinum Jubilee weekend for the England Talent pathway, with both Youth and Junior England Squad boxers attending training sessions at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

Saturday (4th June) saw the England Squads in the Lions’ Den, with the session focusing on space, distance, tempo, close range, combinations and phases of attack.

It was the turn of the Schools Academy boxers on Sunday (5th June) – which features in the pictures – in a session that included sparring technical partner work, padwork and a discussion about what it takes to be the best.

A total of 166 boxers were in attendance across the weekend – 60 on Saturday and 106 on Sunday.

“It was a great weekend and fantastic to see these boxers back on the Talent Pathway after the enforced break for Covid-19,” said England Boxing’s Development Coach, Amanda Coulson.

“The high standard of boxers present demonstrates what a brilliant job all their club coaches have done in supporting their development in the comeback after the Pandemic.”

“It was also great to see Ivan Cobb and Q Shillingford leading the sessions and we’d like to thank all the Talent coaches who were there to help add to the boxers’ learning and experience.”

The next Youth and Junior England Squads session is on Saturday 2nd July and the next Schools Academy session is on Sunday 14th August.
