Squad Named for Silesian Women’s Boxing Championships

August 29, 2023 | by Nabillah Akhtar

Together with GB Boxing, we are delighted to reveal our first ever all-female team that will be competing at the XVIII International Silesian Women’s Boxing Championships next month.

Gliwice in Poland will play host to the exciting event and it will run from 3rd-10th September 2023.

The eleven-strong-squad includes an exceptional range of talent from all over the nation and will be supported by a strong line-up of female coaches too.

The four fighters that will be representing Team England are: Beth Walsh, Ivy-Jane Smith, Chantelle Reid and Ella Thompstone whilst Kelsey Oakley, Sameenah Toussaint, Holly Heffron, Lucy Kings-Wheatley, Sacha Hickey, Dione Burman and Amber Moss-Birch will be flying the flag for GB.

Former boxer and now Lead Coach, Amanda Coulson, is no stranger when it comes to making an impact as she was the first ever female boxing coach for Team GB at the Youth Olympics in 2018.

“For me, it was amazing to go out there as a head coach and come back with the success that the team did. It took that to realise that I’m a good coach. I’m not just a good female coach. I’m actually a good coach, and that was really important for me and for the future of coaching for women.”
