The first draw of the Grassroots Amateur Boxing Lottery (GRAB) took place on Saturday 16th December, with one winner scooping a cash prize.

The first GRAB lottery winner won a total of £25 whilst supporting Marden ABC in the Tyne, Tees & Wear region.

A further seven winners all matched two numbers, meaning they win three extra tickets for next week’s draw. Those seven included supporters of Alliance Boxing Club, Cleary’s Boxing, Lambton Street, Whitby Boxing, Fight Knights and Ringcraft.

Over 250 players have now joined GRAB, meaning the lottery is on track to raise thousands of pounds every year for the nearly 150 clubs which have signed up so far.

The funds raised will be used to support the clubs that have signed up, as well as an England Boxing Central Fund that will support grassroots initiatives.

EB-affiliated clubs, who are interested in benefitting from the lottery, can sign up by clicking here.

Avoen Perryman, EB Head of Operations, said, “Congratulations to the first winners of GRAB. The funds raised through the lottery will make a huge difference to grassroots boxing clubs. We want to thank everyone who has joined the lottery so far, and we’d encourage anyone who wants to support grassroots boxing to take part, have fun and maybe even win £25,000!”.

GRAB lottery draws will take place every Saturday night, and tickets cost just £1.
