The Southern Counties are set to make history with the first-ever all-female boxing day show, ‘Finest Females Box Day’ which is backed by local sponsor, Finest Windows and Doors Portsmouth. This groundbreaking event is set to spotlight the power, talent, and rising momentum of female boxing across the country.
Planned to feature 24 bouts exclusively between female boxers, the event aims to draw participants from every corner of the UK, giving young women and seasoned fighters alike a platform to showcase their skill and passion in a sport traditionally dominated by men.
This day is more than a boxing show…it’s a statement. Female participation in boxing has surged in recent years, fuelled by trailblazers like Nicola Adams, Savannah Marshall, and Chantelle Cameron. Yet opportunities for women to compete in large-scale, dedicated events remain limited. ‘Finest Females Box Day’ directly addresses this gap, creating a space where female athletes are not just included but celebrated.
“Girls and women in boxing need more visibility, more ring time, and more support,” said Clint Chapman from Worthing Boxing Club. “This show is about giving them the platform they deserve and proving just how strong the future of female boxing is.”
“We created an all-female boxing day to highlight the growing popularity of the sport among girls and women. While there are regular programs through schools and clubs, the Women’s Winter Box Cup is currently the UK’s only major female-only competition.
Boxing has long been male-dominated, but with the rise of stars like Katie Taylor, Claressa Shields, and Cecilia Braekhus, female boxing is gaining the attention it deserves. These athletes inspire a new generation to step into the ring, showing that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible.
We’d like to thank the Southern Counties and Sussex Boxing Association for their ongoing support in helping us host this important event on Sunday, June 8th, 2025.”
With Finest Windows and Doors Portsmouth stepping in as the main sponsor, the event also highlights the importance of community support and local businesses backing grassroots sports initiatives.
Female participation in sport is vital, not just for the health and confidence of individual athletes, but for breaking down barriers, reshaping outdated stereotypes, and building a more inclusive future. Events like this pave the way for equality in sport, inspiring the next generation of girls to lace up their gloves and step into the ring.
