England Boxing Backs ‘A Night of Solidarity’

Together with GB Boxing, England Boxing is proud to be supporting ‘A Night of Solidarity’, which aims to celebrate the unifying power of sport and raise funds for Firefighters’ charities, youth sport organisations and community groups in areas affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy nine years ago.

The project has been created to recognise the actions of the local community in the aftermath of the Grenfell fire when boxing and sports clubs came together with firefighters’ charities to help the community rebuild, create safe spaces for young people, and begin the process of healing and restoring hope to everyone affected by the tragedy.

‘A Night of Solidarity’ is based around three events in the Autumn of 2026 that are designed to give young people from the area a memorable experience, recognise the contribution of sports clubs in supporting the local community, and raise funds for firefighters’ charities and local boxing clubs and sports projects.

The first event will take place on Thursday 3rd September 2026 with ‘Ringside on the River Terrace’, a special reception at the Palace of Westminster celebrating boxing and its impact on young people. At the heart of the event will be boxers from clubs across North Kensington, who will demonstrate their skills inside a full-sized boxing ring installed at the Houses of Parliament, the first time a ring of this kind has hosted boxing action within the Palace of Westminster.

The reception will bring together figures from across politics, sport and the wider boxing community, with Government representatives, MPs and the Mayor of London, Sir Sadiq Khan, among those expected to attend.

Olympic champions Lauren Price MBE and Galal Yafai MBE, both gold medallists at Tokyo 2020, will join representatives from Great Britain’s elite boxing programme. Members of the current GB Boxing squad and coaching team will also be present, including Performance Director Rob McCracken CBE, alongside several of the boxers who claimed gold medals at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Acclaimed sports writer Thomas Hauser, whose biography of Muhammad Ali is widely considered one of the most authoritative accounts of the legendary boxer’s life, is also expected to attend the Westminster reception.

The programme will then move beyond London, with young boxers from clubs across the north west of the capital travelling to Sheffield for a behind-the-scenes experience with Great Britain’s Olympic boxing programme at the English Institute of Sport (EIS). During the visit, they will meet and train alongside members of the GB Boxing squad, including athletes working towards the ambition of representing Team GB at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

The series of events will culminate with ‘A Night of Solidarity’ at Kensington Town Hall on Saturday 13th November 2026. The evening will feature 12 bouts of Olympic-style boxing, with a select team representing the London Fire Brigade Boxing Club taking on a North Kensington team comprising male, female and youth boxers drawn from clubs in the local community and across London.

As well as providing a platform for competitive boxing, the event will raise money for local sports organisations and the Fire Fighters Charity. Twenty-four young boxers will have the opportunity to compete on the night, including individuals whose families were directly affected by the tragedy, bringing together the boxing community for an evening centred on sport, remembrance and solidarity.

‘A Night of Solidarity’ is being delivered with the help of the LFB, Gerda Security Products and iVB Boxing and is supported by GB Boxing, England Boxing, London Boxing, Armz House and the LFB Boxing Club.

The charities and organisations that will be supported by the project are: MO1 Youths, Armz House, Fit for Life Youth. Power Hub, All for One Community Club, United Against Violence, KOTG, The Dalgarno Trust and the Firefighter’s Charity.
