The Police Community Clubs of Great Britain is offering England Boxing-affiliated clubs the opportunity to employ registered members at no cost to club or candidate, through its Kickstart Programme.

It  also gives successful applicants the chance to develop skills to enhance their personal CV and increase their long-term employability.

The programme is being administering thanks to funding from HM Government – Department of Works and Pensions [DWP].

Those clubs taking part will join other similar active sports clubs across the United Kingdom in taking advantage of this ‘free’ service.

The broad criteria to secure funding for employment posts is:

  • Open to all genders
  • For those aged between 16 and 24 years
  • Currently  unemployed / receiving Universal Credits
  • Currently NOT in education
  • Candidates will be expected to carry out 25 hours of employment per week within their club
  • They may or may not be current members of sports clubs, but if not then they must become a member and reach the threshold of membership set by England Boxing.

Clubs can nominate one or two people for the programme, but must be able to demonstrate that the post[s] offered are meaningful and justify paid employment for 25 hours per week.

There is no requirement for an England Boxing club to be an affiliated member of the Police Clubs of Great Britain.

Successful candidates will be directly employed by the Police Clubs GB Limited, but they will remain a registered member of the host club, regional association and England Boxing.

It is anticipated that there will be minimal intervention from the Police Clubs excepting where this is requested by the club or the candidate consistently fails to attend or carry out duties for no or unacceptable reasons.

Paperwork to be supplied to the DWP by clubs is expected to be minimal and successful applicants will be expected to start their positions on or before 2nd November.
