BBC to live stream NACs quarters, semis and Finals Day bouts

The England Boxing National Amateur Championships 2021 quarter-finals, semi-finals and Finals Day will be streamed live on BBC Sport’s digital platforms, England Boxing is pleased to announce.

It follows on from 2019’s successful coverage of the same stages of the competition, prior to the onset of the Coronavirus Pandemic.

This year’s quarter-finals and semi-finals are being hosted at the Chase Leisure Centre, Cannock on Saturday 4th December and Sunday 5th December.

Finals Day follows the weekend after on Saturday 11th December, hosted at the University of East London’s SportsDock.

Amateur boxing’s most historic competition dates back to 1881 and the list of previous champions is a who’s who of English boxing.

Household names such as Tyson Fury, Nicola Adams, Anthony Joshua, Savannah Marshall, Frank Bruno, Nigel Benn, Ricky Hatton, Stacey Copeland, Carl Froch, Karriss Artingstall and Tony Bellew are just a few winners of a coveted national belt who have subsequently risen to fame.

“People don’t always realise, but we have some of the best boxers in the world, so to compete and come through and be able to put that national title belt around your waist is an amazing experience,” said Harris Akbar (pictured below), a winner for Bradford Police at Under 69kg in 2018 and 2019, and now part of the GB Boxing squad.

“What I remember about the competition more than anything is the fantastic atmosphere… performing on that kind of stage is what it’s all about as a boxer.”

Bouts can be watched live via the BBC Sport website, app and BBC iPlayer from one designated ring. Coverage will include commentary and alternative camera angles.

Bouts from all rings across the two weekends, including those not shown by the BBC, will be streamed live on the England Boxing YouTube Channel.
