Youth boxer Javaun Bance has received a Special Achievement Award from Lawrence Dallaglio RugbyWorks.

The teenager from the Peckham-based London Community Boxing club has been recognised for his significant commitment and personal development.

The 17-year-old has been taking part in the Rugbyworks programme, a long-term skills development initiative that supports at-risk teenagers and gives them help to secure sustained education, employment and training.

Javaun is now in the final year mentoring year and recently spoke to the Rt. Hon Damian Hinds, Secretary of State for Education, about how the programme has helped him.

He is also part of the peer outreach group, funded by the Mayor of London, helping young people who are excluded or in prison.

Javaun is also a talented boxer, winning a silver medal in the recent Haringey Box Cup.
