Speakers and guests confirmed for Women in Boxing Conference 2022

The speakers and guests for the Women In Boxing Conference 2022 at Leigh Leisure Centre this Friday (2nd December) have now been confirmed.

Speaking about her experiences of being an official will be Grade A UK Armed Forces referee and judge Emma Smith.

Talking about her time as a coach will be Naadrah Hafeez of Huddersfield-based Gladiators (pictured above), ABC, who came through cohort one of the Women’s Coach Development Programme and is now a mentor for coaches om cohort two.

Taking part in a question and answer session will be three boxers who have enjoyed a memorable last 12 months.

Priory Park’s Kelsey Oakley (pictured below) became an England Boxing National Amateur Championships 2022 title winner when she defeated Ella Harris of London Community Boxing in the Under 48kg final in April.

Sturminster Newton’s Ruby White won the England Boxing National Junior Championships 2022 title at Under 48kg in March and followed it up by becoming EUBC Junior European Champion in October, stopping her opponent in the final.

North Star’s Layla Straughan was an England Boxing National Schools Championships winner in May and then went on to be an EUBC Schools European Championships silver medalist after being narrowly beaten on a 3-2 split in her final.

The event will be arrival from 5.30pm and will start at 6pm and finish at 9pm on Friday evening before the England Boxing Women’s Winter Box Cup 2022 takes place on Saturday 3rd December and Sunday 4th December.
