Rathbone launches Proud to #FightTogether Project

London region’s Rathbone Amateur Boxing Club are introducing of free boxing sessions for the LGBTQ+ community.

Recognising stereotypes of boxing gyms may deter some form the sport, the club encourages everyone to learn the sweet science and reap the resulting benefits.

The sessions have been funded by a grant from Comic Relief in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The programme will enable participants to increase their fitness, skill levels and overall wellbeing by training with a group of likeminded individuals in a friendly, welcoming environment.

Sessions will be held at Rathbone’s central London gym, with no previous experience necessary.

The programme will start on 7th November and run for 14 weeks, at the end of which participants will have the opportunity to join the amateur club.

Sessions will be run in line with England Boxing’s ‘Return to Sport’ guidance, with social distancing, adequate cleaning and a reduced capacity.

Two sessions of 45min will be delivered back to back on Saturday afternoons at 2pm and 3pm with time allocated for cleaning of equipment and class changeover.
