England Performance accepting applications for U17 Open Talent Day

England Boxing will host an Open Talent Day (OTD) for U17 boxers (born in 2010 and 2011) on Sunday, 26th April at Tamworth Boxing Gym, Tamworth.
Open Talent Days are designed to identify talented boxers who may not have been selected during the 2026 England Boxing National Junior Championships. This may include athletes who met strong opposition in the early rounds or those unable to compete due to injury or illness.
The standard required to enter the England Performance Pathway is high. Selected boxers must be capable of meeting the demands of an elite training environment and competing internationally against top-level opposition, often with up to a 24-month age difference.
Throughout the day, boxers will be assessed on their technical and tactical abilities using England Boxing’s RAGG rating system, with feedback provided by national coaches where appropriate.
Following the assessment, boxers who meet the required standards will be invited to join the England Boxing Performance Pathway.

Timings: 10:00am – 4.00pm (specific timings will be supplied in the invitation letter)
Venue: Tamworth Boxing Club, Cornerpost Education Centre, Orchard Street, Tamworth, B79 7RH
Please note: Do not attend without being invited.
Compulsory Criteria – All Boxers Must Meet These Criteria:
- Hold a valid BCR1 (to be shown on the day)
- Be a member of an affiliated England Boxing Club & registered on the Locker
- Be a British Citizen (eligible for a British passport)
- Be injury-free, as boxers will be required to participate in all activities
- Be within 1.5kg of weight to be assessed at
- Born in 2010 or 2011
Additional Criteria (Boxers must meet all the Compulsory Criteria listed, plus items listed below):
Male Boxers:
- Boxers 52kg-70kg (inclusive) must have a minimum of 15 bouts. All other weights are required to have had a minimum of 10 bouts
- Have a minimum of 70% win/loss ratio.
Female Boxers
- Had a minimum of 5 bouts
Cadet Champions
- The winners of the 2026 Cadet Championships can apply for OTD if they meet the compulsory criteria listed above.
Please note: Applications are now open and will close at midday on Thursday, 16th April. Only successful applicants will be contacted, with notification issued by 20th April.
