England Boxing proudly opened its doors on Sunday evening (1st March) to host a special Iftar at the English Institute of Sport, welcoming members of the boxing family from across the country.
Organised by England Boxing staff to mark the Holy Month of Ramadan, a sacred period during which Muslims fast from dawn until sunset, the evening was a celebration of faith, community and the shared values that unite the sport.
The event featured a series of insightful presentations, beginning with EDI Officer, Naadrah Hafeez, introducing England Boxing’s brand new Ramadan Policy, designed to support Muslim participants across the amateur boxing community. Attendees also heard from Coach Daisha, who delivered practical guidance on nutrition and training whilst fasting.

A powerful and personal panel discussion followed, bringing together a range of Muslims involved in boxing to share their lived experiences of balancing faith with the demands of the sport. The panel included Dr Rashed Hossain, Mehek Khalil, Manny Safari and Samera Ali, who spoke openly about the challenges they have faced and the progress being made to ensure boxing is a welcoming and inclusive space for all.
After the talks, guests were invited to take part in a beginner’s practical boxing session led by England Boxing Apprentice Dominic Chesterton, before gathering together in prayer and eventually breaking their fast as a community.
This marks the second time England Boxing has hosted an Iftar at the home of GB Boxing, and following the success of the evening, the event will now become a valued annual fixture in the England Boxing calendar.
