Competition is about to start in Bulgaria at the EUBC Schoolboys and Schoolgirl Championships.
This event is a massive step forward for the inclusivity of female boxing as it is the first-time females have been able to box in this age group. It is also the inaugural EUBC competition with both males and females competing together. This increase of competitive activity is a major improvement for female boxing development.
Head of Talent David Thorley commented on the event saying ‘We are delighted to be sending one of the largest England teams ever assembled for a major competition to Bulgaria for this historic event. These exciting young boxers will gain tremendous experience and have undergone a series of rigorous preparation camps with Performance Coach Mick Driscoll to be in optimum condition for this challenging event. I am confident they will do their clubs and country proud.’ Many of the twenty-strong team are making their international debut at this event adding to the excitement for Team England.
David continued ‘We are performing and winning medals at every level now which highlights the success of the Talent Programme as well as the strength of boxers coming out of our clubs.’
