London 2012 Olympic bronze medallist Anthony Agogo was the star attraction at the launch of the Persimmon Homes Building Futures campaign for 2019, held at the Heart of England Community Boxing Club in Hinckley.

The East Midlands club, formed in 2003, was awarded 200,000 of funding last year, which helped saved it from closure.

This year, Persimmon are giving away more than £1 million to support children in health, sport, education and the arts in England, Wales and Scotland.

As an official partner of Team GB, they will also be supporting the organisation in the run up to, and beyond, the next Olympic Games in Tokyo next year.

Building Futures comes on the back of last year’s Healthy Communities competition, which gave away more than £600,000 to support youth sport.

It was Heart of England Boxing Club who were the overall winners of that, while hundreds of other sporting groups benefited from cash prizes.

This year’s Building Futures campaign will see monthly cash donations of £1,000 for 128 groups over four months from February to May 2019. In the final stages, prizes range from £100,000 down to £5,000.
