England Boxing Level 1 Assistant Coach

Online Refresher Course

This learning programme ensures that all our England Boxing-affiliated coaches remain up to date with current coaching standards and requirements. This is mandatory for licensing and insurance purposes.

Coaches should complete their refresher training before their Level 1 Qualification expires. The course lasts 3 hours, and the refresher qualification remains valid for three years.

What do you need before you sign up?

You must:

  • Be 18 years of age or over.
  • Hold an England Boxing Level 1 Assistant Coach award.
  • Be affiliated with an England Boxing club.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS. (Valid for 3 years)
  • Have a first aid qualification, including AED training. (Valid for 3 years)
  • Hold an England Boxing Safeguarding qualification. (Valid for 3 years)
  • Be able to communicate effectively in English (listening, speaking, reading and writing.)

If any of the following are out of date or show as lapsed, you will be ineligible to book on the course until they are brought up to date and show as current.

Please note you will need to retake the England Boxing Level 1 Assistant Coach course in again in full, if all credentials are not up to date, and your current Level 1 has expired.

Course Details

  • All courses are held online via Teams.
  • The duration of this course is three hours.
  • Courses are listed on the Locker until fully booked.

Candidates are required to attend the full three hours with the camera and mics on. Any technical issues may result in the coach having to attend a further course.

Upon booking, candidates will receive a payment confirmation email. Pre-course information will be sent the week before the course begins.

The course covers:

  • Group coaching with the IDEA principle.
  • Basic health and safety.
  • Weight making.
  • Nutrition.
  • Safeguarding and protecting children.
  • England Boxing Rules.
  • Checking for understanding.

How much does the course cost?

The course costs £40

  • Payment: Must be made when booking, via debit or credit card.
  • Confirmation: You will receive a payment confirmation email immediately after booking, and the pre-course information.

When do I receive my certification from the course?

Upon completion of the course, a check for understanding will be issued. Candidates will have seven days from the date of issue to complete and return this to be marked by the assessor. Failure to do so could result in your qualification not being awarded, and you will need to pay and retake the full online session.

Upon completion of the course, and once the checking for understanding has been marked, if successful, you will retain your qualification as an England Boxing Level 1 Assistant Coach for another three years and your qualification will be updated on The Locker as and when we receive the results from the Coach Educator Assessor.

Upon completion of the course, and once the checking for understanding has been marked, if unsuccessful, you will be given the opportunity to retake the checking for understanding, once free of charge. You will again have seven days to complete and return this. If unsuccessful a second time, you will need to pay for and attend the course again.
