Over 75 young people from across Rotherham came together during the Easter holidays to take part in an inspiring initiative, the ‘This is Us’ project, a three-day programme designed to promote community cohesion through sport and creativity.

The campaign brought together three local boxing clubs: Unity Boxing, Saif’s Boxing and Fitness, and DC Boxing, who collaborated for the first time to deliver free sessions across three different locations. Funded by the CYP Challenge Fund, the initiative aimed to create inclusive opportunities for young people while strengthening connections between communities.

Taking place over three consecutive days, each session combined non-contact boxing training with creative workshops, offering people a chance to build confidence, learn new skills, and express themselves in a welcoming environment. The programme also featured work alongside artist Angie Hardwick, adding a creative element to the overall experience.

Activities were held at Saif’s Boxing and Fitness on Canklow Road, DC Boxing at Maltby Academy Gym, and Unity Boxing, with each session running from 10:00am to 12:00pm. The accessible, free-of-charge format made sure that young people from a wide range of backgrounds could take part.
