Deadline Extended: New Programme for Ethnically Diverse Coaches and Officials
July 22, 2025 | by Nabillah Akhtar
England Boxing are excited to share that the application deadline for our brand new Ethnically Diverse Coach and Officials Programme has been extended!
We’re proud to support a vibrant and diverse community of boxers. But we’ve noticed that this same diversity isn’t as well represented among our coaches and officials – and we want to change that.
Much like our Women’s Development Programmes, which helped many of our female members build confidence and grow in their roles, this new initiative is designed to support individuals from ethnically diverse backgrounds in taking their next step as a coach or official. Currently, 25% of our members are from ethnically diverse communities, yet only 11% of coaches and 9% of officials reflect that same diversity. It’s time to close that gap…and we’d love for YOU to be part of it.
The programme includes a mix of online sessions and exciting hands-on experiences, like putting your skills into practice at England Performance camps alongside our top coaches and boxers. You’ll also get the chance to shadow experienced officials at the National Development Championships later this year, giving you a real feel for what it’s like behind the scenes.
If you wish to apply, please send a one-minute video to hrapplications@englandboxing.org with the subject line ‘Officials Development Programme/Coaches Development Programme’, depending on which is relevant to your application. Please include your experience in the role to date, as well as what you are hoping to achieve and gain from the programme.
At this stage, England Boxing is only accepting applications from those who are registered on The Locker with a valid membership and license. We are also only accepting those who have their demographic details up to date to ensure we are prioritising underrepresented communities. The extended closing date is Friday 11th August 2025 at 5pm.
Unfortunately, England Boxing are unable to contribute towards travel costs at this time, so any costs associated with the programmes will have to be covered by members themselves. Individuals will, however, receive several hours of free CPD over 12 months to help develop their coaching or officiating.
