July 29, 2025 | by Chris Boyd
The 2025 England Boxing Annual Awards were held on Friday, 25th July, at the Mercure St Paul’s Hotel in Sheffield, bringing the boxing community together to honour remarkable achievements at the grassroots level.
This year’s ceremony featured 15 awards, including four new additions: Inclusivity Award, Best Bout of the Year, Best Male Boxer of the Year, and Female Boxer of the Year. Another first for the evening was a silent auction, offering signed gloves from boxing legends Daniel Dubois, Ricky Hatton, and Tyson Fury.
The undeniable highlight of the night was 91-year-old Dennis Jarvis from Ashford & District, who received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. Full of energy, Jarvis bounded up to the stage, delighting guests with anecdotes from his five decades in the sport.
Returning to host the ceremony for a second year was professional MC, presenter, and commentator Aky Karim – known for his work with DAZN, TalkSport, and more – bringing his trademark energy to the occasion.
Among the evening’s special guests was three-weight World Champion Terri Harper, who presented the Female Boxer of the Year award to reigning European Champion Lily Bassett (TM Boxing), offering words of encouragement and inspiration.
Also in attendance was Callum Simpson, current British, Commonwealth, and European champion. A proud grassroots advocate and former amateur himself, Simpson returned for the second consecutive year to present the Best Bout of the Year award. It went to Harley Burrows (March ABC) and Marc Haughan (Carlsile Villa) for their thrilling NACs 2025 semi-final clash.
Former British Champion Wayne Elcock, representing Mad Dog’s Boxing Store, sponsored the Best Male Boxer of the Year award. He took to the stage to say a few words before handing the honour to Mohammad Safari of The Ring ABC.
