England v Wales Youth Duel ends in a draw

The event saw a six-strong England team take on a strong Welsh team as the boxers gained valuable international experience.

The results of the evening were:

48kg     Morgan Ansell – Clearys gym v Caitlin Cromie – Won unanimous

49kg     Harvey Smith – Chadwell St Marys v Mohammad Hashim – Lost unanimous

56kg     Scot Melvin – Eastside v Ioan Croft – Lost split

60kg     Jimmy Sains – Repton v Rhys Edwards – Won split

60kg      Donte Dixon – Manor v Caran Croft – Lost split

69kg     Owen Cooper – Worcester City v Connor Burns – Won split

Best Boxer of the night was awarded to England debutant Owen Cooper who was involved in an all action affair against the taller Burns from Wales.

Lead Coach Amanda Coulson said: “This was a great night of competitive boxing involving six boxers who have been invited onto the England Boxing Talent Pathway following their successful performances in the Youth Championships.

“This was a great opportunity for the boxers to begin their development and gain international experience too. Five of the six boxers made their debut in an England Vest. Well done to all involved.”
