England Boxing is delighted to reveal the team for the upcoming U19 European Championships, which take place in Ostrava, Czech Republic, from 28th September – 10th October 2025.

A total of 12 boxers from across the regions of England will make up the team, supported by three reserves. The squad is a blend of emerging talent eager to make their mark on the international stage, alongside returning athletes determined to defend their titles. Amongst them is Oli Male, based at Bridlington Boxing Club, who is grateful for the opportunity.

Speaking on the call-up, the youngster said: “Representing England at the Europeans is a dream come true for me. I have sacrificed a lot and trained harder than ever to get here, and now I’m ready to grab the opportunity with both hands.

“I’m going in full of confidence and belief, ready to test myself against the very best and I will be giving everything to make my family, my team, and my country proud.

“My goal is gold for England and nothing less.”

He will be joined by Ruby Cuthbertson (District Youth ABC), who returns to the prestigious competition with her sights firmly set on the top of the podium: “It’s an honour to be representing my country once again. It means the world to me, and it’s an unbelievable opportunity.

“I expect to come up against the very best, and my goal is to come out on top with a gold medal.”

National Coach, Mick Maguire, expressed his excitement at leading such a talented group of athletes into the Championships and looked ahead: “It is, as always, a privilege to be working with another talented group of young boxers this year, and we will continue to explore every avenue to success throughout our preparation activities across the next few weeks.

“The team has benefitted from extremely strong support from our Performance Pathway in terms of both competition and training opportunities in the lead up to this point.

“We gained invaluable competitive experience through the Three Nations and, more recently, at The Brandenburg Cup in Germany. This complements a variety of residential camps in England, and also includes a planned visit from the Ireland Under 19s team in September.”

He continued: “I am extremely excited by the strength and depth of the team and the incredible way in which they have bonded, and I am certain we will see this team living and breathing the England Performance values of Respect, Enjoyment, and Professionalism all the way through preparation and the forthcoming tournament.

“Lastly, I would like to pay homage to the club coaches of these young athletes who do the daily work with them at home, week in week out and also to the families who give their all in supporting and facilitating travelling to and from activities. We really are all one united team.”
