Scott ditches drugs and earns university place – with boxing’s help

Scott Stevenson fields a barrage of greetings and handshakes as he makes his way into the action-all-areas Pat Benson Boxing Academy.

The former drug addict’s comeback story has resonated at the legendary gym, which is funded by The National Lottery.

As he slips into boxing gloves to join an intensive group session in full throttle, he is a moving picture of energy and concentration.

But the sparky 31-year-old is fortunate to be standing and punching at all – he has overcome the darkest of times to turn his life around and take a university course to enable him to help others.
