Vacancy: Boxing Teacher for England Boxing DiSE Programme at Gateshead College

Gateshead College is seeking an experienced and ambitious Boxing Teacher to lead the delivery of the England Boxing Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) programme.

This is a unique opportunity to play a significant role within England Boxing’s national talent pathway, working with some of the country’s most promising young boxers as they progress towards elite performance.

This is more than a teaching role. You’ll influence the development of athletes at a pivotal stage in their journey, combining high-performance coaching with education to help young boxers realise their potential both inside and outside the ring. Working closely with England Boxing, you’ll help identify, develop and support athletes who could represent England and beyond.

About the Role

As the DiSE Teacher, you’ll lead the management, delivery and assessment of the Level 3 Diploma in Sporting Excellence, ensuring athletes receive an outstanding experience that supports both their sporting ambitions and educational achievement.

The role combines practical boxing coaching, classroom delivery, athlete mentoring and programme management, requiring someone equally comfortable developing performance as they are supporting learning.

About the DiSE Programme

The Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) is a Level 3 education programme funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and forms a key part of England Boxing’s long-term athlete development pathway.

Designed for talented young athletes with realistic potential to excel in boxing, the programme enables boxers to combine high-performance training with full-time education, including A Levels, BTECs, apprenticeships or other vocational qualifications.

Delivered over two years, DiSE provides a genuine dual-career pathway, equipping athletes with the technical, tactical and personal skills required for success in elite sport while supporting their future education and career aspirations.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and manage the England Boxing DiSE programme at Gateshead College.
• Recruit and retain a minimum cohort of 15 talented boxers.
• Deliver outstanding practical coaching and classroom-based learning.
• Assess learner progress across practical and theory units.
• Mentor and support young athletes balancing elite sport with education.
• Manage programme administration, quality assurance and learner records.
• Build positive relationships with England Boxing and contribute to the continued success of the national Performance Pathway.
• Create an environment where talented young boxers can thrive and progress towards the highest levels of the sport.

You’ll be passionate about developing talented athletes and committed to helping young people achieve their potential through both sport and education.

Essential requirements include:

• Minimum Level 2 England Boxing Coaching Qualification.
• At least five years’ experience coaching boxing at a high-performance level.
• Experience working with talented young athletes.
• Ability to manage, deliver and assess both practical and theory-based learning.
• Willingness to achieve the Assessor Award Qualification if not already held.
