England Boxing is keen to keep the boxing community and stakeholders abreast of the progress made against its strategic plan for 2022-27.

Below is a quarterly headline summary of that progress under the four key objectives of A thriving boxing community, An inclusive, diverse and accessible sport, An inspirational and aspirational competition and talent pathway and A respected and valued NGB.

2023 – quarter two progress

A thriving boxing community
  • Delivery of x9 club resilience training conferences across the country, benefitting 50+ clubs to advance their sustainability & governance with thanks to our partners at Sported, UK Coaching, and Club Matters.
  • Roll-out of the Veterans Project and Social Prescribing (Box to Beat it) programme has taken place with clubs recruited and ready to start development and delivery in Q3.
  • The first-ever England Boxing annual awards ceremony was held in July 2023 with 10 volunteers being recognised for their efforts and dedication to the sport.
An inclusive, diverse and accessible sport
  • The ‘Clink to Club’ programme continues to be delivered within two prisons, and funding secured for an ambitious expansion of delivery across the country in 2024 to benefit clubs, members, and under-represented groups alike.
  • EB Apprenticeship programme continues with seven young people due to complete their studies and move onto new career opportunities in November 2023, and a further three apprentices having recently been employed for year two.
  • EB’s inaugural EDI Conference was delivered in July 2023, as well as, the second annual Women in Boxing Conference in December 2022 alongside the Women’s Winter Box Cup.
  • Year 2 of the Inclusive Activity Programme is in progress with 40+ clubs delivering disability inclusion sessions nationwide.
  • Year 3 of the Female Coach Development programme and year 2 for the Women’s Officials Development programme are now well underway.
  • Women’s Aspire continues to offer women & girls opportunities at the national level, whilst the recent introduction of Women’s Inspire provides similar opportunities to those at the club & regional level.
An inspirational and aspirational competition and talent pathway
  • The new Level 3 Coaching Course is a resounding success with cohort one participants now reaching the halfway point of their training, and applications received for cohort 2 due to start in April 2024.
  • EB’s most successful season on record with 45 international medals secured in 2022-23 season.
  • The continued delivery of Open Talent Days to ensure boxers are given the best opportunity to represent their country.
A respected and valued NGB
  • EB has a record number of followers and subscribers across all social media platforms, most notably Tik Tok which has tripled since last year.
  • The recent modernisation of our safeguarding & compliance policies and procedures ensures that we are able to safeguard our members and sport with the most up-to-date practices.
  • Sponsorship continues with our partners at Sting, ActiPH, CB Protection and Unibox.
  • New partnerships have been created with the likes of BOXXER, Boxwise and Rematch Live, with others also due to be announced in the coming months.
