Medals for St John’s duo at Hvidovre Box Cup

Manchester’s St John’s Boxing Club recently enjoyed a trip abroad to take part in the Hvidovre Box Cup in Denmark – with two boxers coming away with medals.

Saturday saw the semi-finals contested, where in the 54kg Schools division, Asim Elkelani lost by a unanimous points decision to N. Zulawinski (Hollvikens) and in the 60kg Youth division Tom Harley was beaten unanimously by home boxer F. Fordjour (Hvidovre BK, Denmark).

But there was success for Harley Moran in the 63kg Junior division as he secured a unanimous success over L. Mooney (Angred ABC, Sweden).

In Sunday finals, Moran took on L. Bauer (Hajestrop, Denmark) and lost a close bout on a split decision to claim a silver medal.

Sean Jackson, boxing in the elite 52kg division went one better as he was a unanimous points winner over Z. Asqher (CIK, Denmark) to take the gold medal.
